Copenhagen hotel market update
10-10-2007: Bright outlook for the Greater Copenhagen hotel market.
Recent years’ international economic upturn in tandem with a relatively modest increase in room supply has strengthened the Copenhagen hotel market. The number of bed nights has seen a substantial increase, and given the moderate additional room supply this has prompted a marked improvement of occupancy rates. This coupled with an increase in room rates has pushed up RevPAR values (Revenue Per Available Room) quite considerably.
Against this backdrop, the outlook for the hotel sector is bright. Our updated analysis of supply and demand trends in regard to bed nights indicates that Copenhagen occupancy rates will hit a record high in the years ahead, but will deteriorate longer term due to a brisker building activity within the sector. All other things being equal, the strong occupancy rates will drive up room rates and RevPAR even further.
